The Black Cats haven’t won since their Good Friday victory over Oxford United and twice let the lead slip in their most recent outing as they drew 3-3 with Accrington Stanley.
But despite their struggles of late, Sunderland could mathematically secure their play-off place with victory over Blackpool tonight and should other results go their way.
But beating the Tangerines, who triumphed 1-0 when the sides last met, will be a tricky ask given Neil Critchley’s side have play-off ambitions of their own.
And Lee Johnson will no doubt be weighing-up some changes ahead of the clash, with the Wearsiders seeking to rediscover that winning formula.
