JOHN O’SHEA says Stephane Sessegnon is “special”.

The Benin international’s wonderstrike set the Black Cats on the way to a 2-0 win against Swansea at the weekend.

And then he perfectly teed-up Craig Gardner for a goal that will surely join Sessegnon’s as one of the best in the Barclays Premier League

“It’s incredible to think Sessegnon’s goal has been overshadowed really,” said O’Shea.

“It was a great one-two and I was saying to him at half-time that I thought he was meaning to cross it.

“That’s what we know he’s capable of. He’s a special player for us and long may that continue.

“He’s the player that makes the difference for us and that goal summed him up.”

The 30-year-old added: “It was one of those games where it shows the confidence and maturity which has crept in over the last few weeks.

“Watching the video of Swansea beforehand, you could see how they keep possession and try to play.

“We knew early on that if we pressed them properly in the right areas, we could get some joy. That’s what happened for the first goal.

“In the second half, we had a few chances to get the second goal before we actually did.

“Towards the end of the first half, we maybe got a bit sloppy and in passages during the second half. But overall it was a very professional performance.”
