Sunderland’s youngsters are one game away from a European final.
Elliott Dickman’s Under-23 side take on Norwich City at Carrow Road on Friday night in the semi-final of the Premier League International Cup (KO 7pm) - with FC Porto awaiting the winners.
Sunderland beat Athletic Club Bilbao in the quarter-finals to reach the last four of the competition.
Winger Rees Greenwood insists there is enough quality in the Sunderland side to progress to the final but knows the young Black Cats will have to be on top of their game to go all the way.
“It is definitely a big game in our season,” said the 21-year-old wideman.
“We know if we get through then we are into a major final and that would be a great achievement for us. We have a long way to go before we can get there, and we know we need to produce our very best football if we are to get there.
“We need to treat it like any other game, there is no point over thinking it because it is a semi-final but it’s just a game of football.
“We know we have the quality in the group to win this match – we have to show it and make sure we take our chances,” he told the club website.
Porto’s B team qualified for the final with a close-fought 1-0 success at Swansea City.
* Sunderland will be backed by their 12th sold-out away support of the season at Watford.
