Steven Fletcher is a doubt for Sunderland’s clash against Watford this weekend after suffering a training ground knock.
Sunderland’s joint top scorer sustained a foot injury on the training field this morning and the Black Cats are assessing the damage to the Scotland international, ahead of Saturday’s visit of the Hornets.
“Steven Fletcher pulled out of training with about half an hour left with a sore foot,” said Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce today.
“We’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see if that’s causing him a problem to be selected for Saturday.”
Allardyce is already without midfield pair Lee Cattermole (back) and Seb Larsson (knee) for the visit of the Hornets, although Jermain Defoe (hamstring) and Wes Brown (knee) are back in the fold.
Both were able to train this morning and will be in the squad for Saturday.
“Lee and Seb won’t make this weekend,” added Allardyce.
“Jermain trained this morning, so too did Wes, so they look like they’re okay.
“They’ll come back into the squad.”
