Duncan Watmore has been handed his first Premier League start for Sunderland's clash against Southampton today.

Watmore - who impressed off the bench against Everton last weekend - was one of four changes made to the starting XI by Sam Allardyce, as he reverted to a more familiar 4-3-3 system.

Fit-again Younes Kaboul and Ola Toivonen both returned, while Jordi Gomez took the place of the injured Lee Cattermole in midfield.

Sunderland: Pantilimon, Yedlin, Coates, Kaboul, Jones, M'Vila, Gomez, Toivonen, Johnson, Watmore, Fletcher. Subs: Mannone, Brown, van Aanholt, Rodwell, Defoe, Lens, Borini.

Southampton: Stekelenburg, Yoshida, Clasie, Fonte, S Davis, Mane, Tadic, Ward-Prowse, van Dijk, Pelle, Bertrand. Subs: K Davis, Cedric, Romeu, Martina, Juanmi, Caulker, Seager
