Sunderland Under-23s edged home 1-0 against Norwich City tonight to reach the final of the Premier League International Cup.

Joel Asoro’s 13th-minute strike did the damage, firing past keeper Aston Oxborough as Sunderland’s bright start paid off.

Norwich had the chance to level matters in the 34th minute, but Glenn Middleton’s low penalty was brilliantly saved by keeper Max Stryjek.

Porto, who beat Swansea in the other semi-final, will meet the Black Cats in the final.
