FRAIZER Campbell says any sort of involvement at Manchester City would provide the perfect tonic to a season to forget.
Campbell is expected to be on the bench for Sunderland’s trip to Eastlands tomorrow – seven months since sustaining cruciate knee ligament, ironically in August’s reverse fixture with City.
The 23-year-old had been tipped to be a driving force for Sunderland this year after notching six goals during pre-season.
But following an innocuous challenge with City’s Yaya Toure, Campbell’s campaign was brought to a premature halt.
After scoring in Tuesday’s reserve team draw with West Brom, Campbell is back in the first-team frame, though, and hopes to salvage some positives from the remaining eight games of the season.
Campbell told the Echo: “If I can make any kind of impact to help the team it would be brilliant.
“It would be a dream end to a bad season.”
