ADAM JOHNSON is looking forward to being reunited with former club Manchester City in the Barclays Asia Trophy final tomorrow, reports Chris Young in Hong Kong.

Johnson grabbed the winner in Boxing Day’s Stadium of Light victory over City after last summer’s £10million move from the Etihad Stadium.

The England winger will come up against his former team-mates again here in Hong Kong tomorrow as Sunderland attempt to lift the Asia Trophy.

Johnson said today: “It’s always nice going back to old teams and seeing familiar faces.

“I played against them last season and we did alright.

“This time around there’s less pressure, but we obviously want to win.”

Sunderland are bracing themselves for even worse conditions than Wednesday’s semi-final win over Spurs, when kick-off was delayed by 30 minutes due to torrential rain.

The rain has continued here in Hong Kong over the last 48 hours, yet Johnson believes the Black Cats adapted well to the sodden pitch in the semi-final.

“It’s obviously difficult but it’s the same for every team,” added Johnson.

“Overall I thought we dealt with the conditions quite well as a team and used them to our advantage.

“We worked hard on the pitch and if we can do that again, then hopefully conditions won’t come into play.”
