SUNDERLAND will visit Championship club Derby County in pre-season.
The Black Cats will face Nigel Clough’s Rams at Pride Park on Wednesday, August 8 (7.45pm kick-off).
Tickets for the game against the side which finished 12th in the Championship, 11 points off a play-off place, will be cheaper for Sunderland season card holders – £10 (adults) and £5 (concessions). For non-season card holders, tickets will be £12 and £6.
The game is the Black Cats’ first domestic pre-season fixture to be announced, with Martin O’Neill’s men already confirmed as participants in the Peace Cup in South Korea with games on Thursday, July 19 and Sunday, July 22 at the Suwon Stadium.
H League One club MK Dons have appointed Sunderland-born former Luton boss Mick Harford as assistant manager to Karl Robinson, and named former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright as first-team coach.
Wright worked with the Dons’ strikers earlier in the season and will take up his role on a part-time basis.
Robinson said: “I believe I’ve picked the two best people to help our promotion ambitions next season.
“Mick is an incredible man and a fantastic coach who is well respected in the game. He has a fear factor about him, but he is a football person and I need to be surrounded by football people.”
