Sunderland head coach Dick Advocaat will be without the suspended Younes Kaboul for the visit of Manchester City on Tuesday.

City travel to the Stadium of Light for the third round of the Capital One Cup.

But the Black Cats will be without Kaboul as he serves a one-match ban following his red at Bournemouth.

Kaboul was given his marching orders after 75 minutes after picking up a second yellow card for a foul on Callum Wilson.

His absence is an unwelcome headache for Advocaat, who was also missing John O’Shea at Dean Court, the Irish defender missing out through illness.

Wes Brown could come back into the side for the visit of City, if O’Shea doesn’t shake off his illness in time.
