RYAN Noble has returned to the Stadium of Light after the end of his month-long loan with Derby County, writes Chris Young.
Noble was restricted to just two appearances for the Rams during his stint in the Championship and was not even included in the matchday squad for last night’s defeat to Reading.
Derby had held talks with both Sunderland and Noble over a possible extension to the loan.
But with Derby boss Nigel Clough unable to promise the 20-year-old, pictured above, a regular spot, the Sunderland-born striker has returned to Wearside.
Clough said: “We had a chat with Ryan on Monday and with Theo Robinson, Nathan Tyson and Steven Davies now edging towards full fitness after injury, we couldn’t promise him a regular start.
“He has been great to have around the place and we’re as frustrated as him that his chances were limited during the month.”
