Sunderland’s Reed joins Brentford

Have your say

YOUNG Sunderland midfielder Adam Reed has joined League One side Brentford on a month-long loan deal and will go straight into the squad which faces Tranmere Rovers tonight.

The Hartlepool-born 19-year-old was a regular in Sunderland’s reserve side last season, and has been a mainstay of the second string this season too.

But the club has decided it is time for the teenager to test himself at a higher level and he will get his first taste of League One football at Griffin Park this evening.

Tonight’s game will instantly reunite him with fellow reserve team players Robbie Weir and Michael Kay, who are both on loan with the opposition.
