HERE’S the first look at Sunderland’s new away kit.

The shirt features adidas branding for the first time in the club’s history as well as the new Invest In Africa sponsorship label.

The strip will be officially launched a week on Thursday (July 5) and to coincide with its release, all three of the club’s retail stores will re-open with a new look after major refurbishment.

Sunderland’s new online retail store,, has been launched today, where the new away kit is available for pre-order.

It is the first time in Sunderland’s history that adidas have manufactured their kit and as well as the company’s famous three stripes logo, the strip will feature the latest performance technology.

The club’s new partner, Invest In Africa, is emblazoned on the front of the shirt.

The backers of the Invest In Africa campaign is London-based oil company Tullow Oil but, in something of a first for English football, the shirts will feature a campaign drive rather than a company’s products or image.

Sunderland’s three stores – at the Stadium of Light, the Galleries in Washington and within Debenhams at The Bridges – will feature new shirt-printing facilities, digital graphic screens and a new click and collect service.
