Sunderland are anxiously waiting for news on Lynden Gooch after their injury jinx struck again.

The USA midfielder was stretchered off last night after injuring his ankle when falling awkwardly in the 2-2 Premier League 2 draw with Tottenham.

Gooch has been a regular in the Premier League and EFL Cup squad all season and boss David Moyes brought him on at Anfield on Saturday when Sunderland were chasing an equaliser against Liverpool.

Moyes was a concerned onlooker last night when Gooch was hurt at Eppleton CW, with Sunderland U23 coach saying the club must wait to have the 20-year-old assessed.

But Moyes did get some encouragement last night with a reminder from Adnan Januzaj of what he can do.

The on-loan Manchester United ace scored a great goal in the match with Spurs.

Moyes has also hailed the play and spirit of Billy Jones.

The 29-year-old has started the last four Premier League games and the British bulldog has played his part in the teams turnaround.
