Sunderland linked with Premier League youngster

Sunderland have been credited with an interested in Brighton defender Haydon Roberts.

The 18-year-old is highly-rated by his current club and is reportedly attracting admiring glances from a number of League One clubs.

According to the Athletic, Sunderland, Wimbledon and Blackpool are all keen on Roberts.

The Black Cats are in the market for a centre back this summer, with former Everton youngster Morgan Feeney currently on trial at the Academy of Light.

Peterborough vow ‘revenge’ after League One curtailment

Barry Fry says Peterborough United are eyeing a ‘revenge season’ after seeing their promotion hopes dashed last season.

Posh were one of several sides, including Sunderland, who were opposed to the League One season being curtailed after it was initially suspended in March.

And now, Darren Ferguson’s side have revenge on their mind.

Speaking to Sky Sports, director of football Fry said: "We all feel in Peterborough that if the season had finished, we would have got promotion.

"We’ve got a revenge season. We want to win the league.”

Lee Bowyer opens up on Charlton contract struggles

Lee Bowyer has expressed his frustration as he eyes further signings - claiming non-league clubs can offer more money than his Charlton side.

The Addicks are currently restricted to offering maximum wages of £1,300 per week to new signings as they remain under a partial EFL embargo, and this has left Bowyer irate.

“How are we meant to bridge the gap between the top six or seven teams?’ he said, speaking to London News Online.

“There are non-league players earning more than what we’re allowed to offer. That’s a fact.

“Paul Konchesky was earning more for Billericay. Now we are playing in League One and have got to offer less than that. So who do they want us to bring in? What level do you want us to bring in? It’s not right."
