Sunderland AFC superfan George Forster has collected his Championship Supporter of the Year award at a star-studded bash.
George, 91 attended the EFL Awards in London on Sunday to collect his award and Sunderland legend Gary Rowell has hailed the superfan for his superb support.
He has been honoured for going above and beyond to demonstrate his passion and commitment for the Black Cats over the decades.
Sunderland legend Rowell, writing in his Sunderland Echo column, said: "I'd like to send my congratulations to Sunderland AFC Supporters’ Association chairman George Forster for his Championship Supporter of the Year award.
"Forget the Championship though, George is Champions League in every way!
"George is an absolute credit to our football club and a reminder that in these darkest of times, thanks to people like George, Sunderland can still win things.
"I know he will play this latest award down but nobody deserves it more and no matter what division Sunderland are in next season - because of the likes of George Forster - Sunderland football club will always be great."
George, chairman of the Sunderland AFC Supporters’ Association, has told of his pride.
He told the Echo: "It’s a tremendous honour for me to win this award. It’s very nice to be appreciated for what I have done over the years."
The awards ceremony at the London Hilton, on Park Lane, was attended by players, managers and the Football League’s clubs.
