ROOKIE Sunderland keeper Ben Wilson has joined League Two Chesterfield on a month’s loan.

The 20-year-old (pictured), who made his first-team bow during Sunderland’s pre-season trip to South Korea, has been drafted in by the Spireites after an injury to first-choice stopper Tommy Lee.

Wilson will be hoping to make his Football League debut in Saturday’s clash against Wycombe after previously enjoying loan spells at Harrogate Town and Gateshead.

The stopper is the second of Sunderland’s homegrown youngsters to leave the Stadium of Light since the emergency loan window opened after winger Craig Lynch joined Hartlepool for a month last weekend.
