SUNDERLAND keeper Simon Mignolet’s transfer to Liverpool has moved a step closer.
The Reds are about to offload Andy Carroll to West Ham. The striker has now passed a medical and will complete a £15million-plus move to Upton Park, where he has spent a year on loan.
Liverpool will take a significant loss on the 24-year-old, who signed from Newcastle for £35million in 2011.
However, it will bring in funds Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers need to help his own summer spending.
Mignolet is expected to seal a £10m move from Sunderland.
Rodgers is also tracking Shakhtar Donetsk’s £20million-rated forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori and Sevilla midfielder Luis Alberto.
