Aiden McGeady has had his say on his fall out (or whatever you want to call it) with Phil Parkinson.

I feel it’s only fair we hear about it from Parkinson’s point of view before we pass full judgement on the previous manager.

The one thing that is certain, is that it should have been resolved because this football club - in the position it is in – should have made use of a player like Aiden McGeady last season.

He may have just been the difference to gain the extra points needed to push the club into the higher average points-per-game total which would have then resulted in a higher league finish.

Phil Parkinson.Phil Parkinson.
Phil Parkinson.

However, as frustrating as this all feels, particularly in light of his interview, there is no point in looking back now, we have to look forward.

McGeady, as my regular column readers will know, is a player I highly rate.

I feel he still has a chance to do something special at this club.

At 34 he is not getting any younger and when his time at the club does finally come to an end, it would be highly disappointing if he doesn’t have a promotion to show for all the quality he has provided.

If he performs as he can between now and the end of the season, that could be the catalyst that ignites a spark in the team. It could be that extra bit of quality needed to finally get the job done.

Let’s hope when the fans do finally get back into the ground we will be hearing those McGeady chants again.
