Sunderland have confirmed two of their pre-season fixtures, with the Black Cats facing friendlies against non-league Darlington 1883 and League One Doncaster Rovers.

The Black Cats will open their friendly programme against Darlington at Bishop Auckland’s Heritage Park ground on Thursday, July 9 (kick-off 7.45pm) with the Quakers just securing promotion to the Evo-Stick North league.

Sunderland ran out 5-1 winners when they faced Darlington at the start of pre-season last year, as goals from Emanuele Giaccherini, Jordi Gomez, Connor Wickham and a brace from Steven Fletcher saw Gus Poyet’s side run out comfortable winners.

A second friendly has also been announced, with Sunderland travelling to Doncaster on Wednesday, July 29 (kick-off 7.45pm).

Tickets for the Doncaster game will be priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

It is understood that Sunderland are still finalising potential games for an overseas tour later in the pre-season programme.
