MEMORIES of 1973 will come flooding back after Sunderland were paired with Leeds United in the FA Cup third round draw.
The Black Cats will host the Elland Road club at the Stadium of Light.
Back in ’73, Leeds were giants of the game and strong favourites, but Ian Porterfield’s goal sealed victory for Sunderland who were then in the division below.
It’s a case of roles reversed now, with Sunderland in the Premier League and Leeds languishing in the Championship.
In other ties, Blyth Spartans were drawn at home to Championship Birmingham City, while Conference side Gateshead are away to Premier League West Brom.
Newcastle United were handed an all-Premier League tie, with a trip to Leicester City.
