SUNDERLAND defender Santiago Vergini is expected to win his second cap for Argentina in tomorrow’s friendly against Hong Kong.

Vergini has impressed for the Black Cats during the early stages of the campaign after arriving at the Stadium of Light on a second loan deal, from Costa Rican club Club Sport Uruguay de Coronado.

That saw the 26-year-old win a recall to the Argentina squad for the friendlies against Brazil and Hong Kong, in the Far East.

Vergini was an unused substitute against Brazil on Saturday, but Argentina manager Gerardo Martino confirmed today that those who didn’t feature at the weekend are likely to start against Hong Kong tomorrow morning (kick-off 10am GMT).

“The idea is to play most of the players who were called up to this tour,” said Martino.

Vergini’s only previous cap for his country came as a late substitute against Brazil in 2012.
