SUNDERLAND have no intention of going any further in their effort to bring back John O’Hare from Derby County. This decision was reached at last night’s board meeting, writes Argus.
A letter goes into the post today thanking Derby Country for considering their offer and giving formal notice that the offer is now withdrawn.
“O’Hare is just the type of player we need,” said Manager Bob Stokoe. “I would very much like to have added him to our team but our valuation was no acceptable and we have decided not to go any further.”
“I hope to complete the Ron Guthrie deal when he is allowed out on Monday after getting over the worst effect of his flu infection. He and David Young will bring extra experience into the defence. Then I will be looking for a couple of forwards to do the same job in attack.”
