Sunderland boss gives update on Will Grigg and Aiden McGeady's uncertain futures

Grigg has been an unused substitute in Sunderland’s last five League One matches and the arrival of Kyle Lafferty looks set to further his limit is immediate prospects of first-team football.
With the Black Cats reluctant to see him move to a potential rival for promotion, Swindon Town, currently top of League Two, have been exploring the possibly of an audacious move.

Hide AdSwindon boss Richie Wellens did not deny his interest earlier this week, confirming his intent to bring in an experienced and proven goalscorer to replace Eoin Doyle.
Doyle is the top scorer in the football league but was recalled by Bradford City last week.
Parkinson was coy on the topic on Thursday but hinted that it stands, the deal is unlikely to happen.
The Black Cats could yet make another addition to their forward line, which could change the picture.

Hide Ad“Will is going to attract attention because as we all know, his goalscoring record is very good,” he said.
“At the moment, he’s with us and he’s got competition for his place and that’s good.
“If the situation came with any player who fell down the pecking order and it’s beneficial for him and us for a loan move, we’d consider it.
“But it’s not at this stage.”
Parkinson also said that there have not been any offers for Aiden McGeady.

Hide AdMcGeady has been excluded from the first-team environment by the Black Cats, who said he wanted to improve the culture around the squad.
There were initially some tentative enquiries from abroad but as of yet, that has not been firmed up.
The Sunderland boss still expects him to depart later in the month.
“There’s been nothing at all to me personally.
“I’ve spoken to the chairman this morning and Richard Hill, and they haven’t had anything, but I think that something will happen.
“He’s training with the U23s still, keeping himself ticking over which is important so that he’s ready if the move comes.”
