FOUR MEMBERS of Sunderland’s Under-18 squad have penned their first professional contracts at the Stadium of Light.
Wingers Rees Greenwood and Jordan Blinco, defender Michael Ledger and goalkeeper James Talbot have all agreed terms with the Black Cats and will become full-time members of the U21 set-up.
The quartet have all impressed for the U18s this season, while Greenwood has already made the step-up to a starting spot in the U21 side - scoring in Monday night’s 3-0 win over West Ham.
Sunderland have confirmed that midfielder Dylan McEvoy has also extended his Black Cats scholarship by a further year.
Fellow midfielder Ethan Robson - highly-rated by Sunderland’s coaching staff - is already tied to a professional contract after the 18-year-old signed a two-and-a-half year deal with the Black Cats last season.
Meanwhile, defender Jassem Sukar is on trial with hometown club Hartlepool United after featuring on the bench for their reserve side yesterday.
