Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday urged the population to remain indoors as much as possible, as he looks to turn the tide of the COVID-19 outbreak.

And the Black Cats have contributed to the national drive to encourage people to stay at home by unveiling a new-look club crest – which shows the famous lions spread apart to emphasise the need to distance in these difficult times.

Sharing the new-look crest – which will be present on the club’s social media channels in the coming weeks – the club said: “We might be further apart but we're all in this together. #StayHomeSaveLives.”

Sunderland aren’t the first club to redesign their badge as the sporting world looks to do their bid to enforce important messages.
