The Washington-born 22-year-old, called into the last England squad, has been Sunderland's number one since Vito Mannone suffered an elbow injury in training.

And now Premier League sides Man City and Everton are understood to be keeping tabs on Pickford, who is reported to be in line for a pay rise after his impressive form this season.

The Mirror report Pickford, who is under contract until 2020, is comfortable with the ball at his feet and that makes him an ideal target for Man City boss Pep Guardiola.

Ronald Koeman's Toffees are also monitoring his progress, while Manchester United have been long-term admirers.

Meanwhile, Manchester City stopper Joe Hart - who is currently on loan at Serie A side Torino - is set to leave the Etihad Stadium next summer.

And Sunderland are among a host of clubs that are said to be keeping an eye on his situation.

Everton are also reported to be keen to bring Hart to Goodison Park.

A few months in Italy has seen Hart regain his form and he helped keep England in the World Cup qualifier with Slovenia last week.

The 29-year-old now reportedly wants a permanent move after his loan spell.
