Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor is reported to have been offered to Sunderland.

But the Black Cats are not thought to be interested in signing free agent Adebayor, who is currently without a club after a deal to Lyon broke down.

Sunderland are short of attacking options, with David Moyes relying on Jermain Defoe to lead the line for the club this season.

The club failed to land another striker before deadline day but Victor Anichebe did arrive on a free after the window closed.

The former Everton and West Brom striker is currently building his fitness levels and is yet to make an appearance for Sunderland.

Fabio Borini is out for two months with a thigh injury, which meant Moyes had to rely on Duncan Watmore and Joel Asoro to lead the line against QPR in the EFL Cup, with Defoe rested ahead of the home game with Crystal Palace tomorrow at the Stadium of Light.

Moyes told the Echo earlier this month his summer transfer business was done after making 10 new signings.
