Sunderland have been linked with a fresh move for Sevilla midfielder Vicente Iborra.
The Spanish midfielder recently distanced himself from a move to the Premier League but Spanish website El Desmarque claim the Black Cats remain keen on bringing him to the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland's number one midfield priority is to re-sign Yann M'Vila on a permanent basis.
But rumours of Sunderland's interest in Iborra won't go away on the first day the transfer market officially opened.

Meanwhile, Sunderland target Andre Ayew is waiting to see if any top-four interest emerges this summer, the Echo understands.
The Black Cats saw a bid rejected by Swansea City for Ayew in the January transfer window and there have been informal discussions over a fresh move for the winger.
It is thought that the Ghanaian is open to leaving the Liberty Stadium and he has tellingly changed agents over recent weeks.

And finally, Sheffield Wednesday could pip Norwich City to sign freed Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher.
Fletcher became a free agent today following the expiry of his Black Cats contract, and Norwich had moved to the front of the queue for the Scotland international.
But Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal, eager to go one better than last season’s trip to the Championship play-off final, is keen on the ex-Wolves, Burnley and Hibs frontman, who cost Sunderland £12million in 2012.
The Owls are reported to have offered Fletcher, 29, a lengthier contract than Norwich, which could be a deciding factor for the player who spent the second half of last season at French club Marseille.
