Sunderland have been linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers centre-back Shane Duffy.

The club has already signed centre-back Papy Djilobodji for £8million but would still need further defensive cover should Lamine Kone depart for the Toffees in an £18million deal.

Sunderland today signed young Manchester United defensive duo Paddy McNair and Donald Love but versatile McNair says his favoured position is central midfield, while Love is a full-back who can also operate in midfield.

Duffy, 24, has now been linked with a move to Wearside despite reports he is set to be offered a new deal by the Championship side.

West Bromwich Albion, Brighton & Hove Albion and Celtic have also been linked with Duffy.

Meanwhile, Ronald Koeman has told his weekly press conference that Phil Jagielka is going nowhere.

The centre-back has been linked with a reunion with former boss Moyes at Sunderland, but Koeman - who is looking to make a further four signings - insists Jagielka is staying put.

"I like to have four good centre-backs," said Jagielka.

"There is no way Jags will leave the club, if you count our centre backs."

He declined to comment on speculation surrounding Kone.

And finally, attacking midfielder Jeremain Lens has been linked with a surprise move to Besiktas.

The Turkish champions are reported to be on the lookout for a winger and they have been linked with a move for Dutch midfielder Lens.

Ex-Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat - who had enjoyed two previous spells working with Lens - brought him to the club last summer in an initial £8million deal.

Despite a disappointing 2015-16 campaign, he has featured heavily in pre-season and is set to start against Manchester City on Saturday teatime.
