Steve Parkin pre Rochdale press conference
On Chris Maguire
He’s got to play with energy. He's a very talented footballer and when his running stats are right up there, that’s when he’s at his very best.
Looking ahead to Rochdale
It's the business end of the season now. We’re getting there but every game is vital and it starts again tomorrow night. Saturday is gone now and we’ve got to move on and continue picking up points.
They’re a very good footballing team and they’ve got dangerous forwards. They’re a definite threat, a definite goal threat. We have to respect them and get the crowd right behind us because I don’t think it will be an easy game.
Having Charlie Wyke and Kyle Lafferty up front
We pondered long and hard on the touchline me and Phil about what changes we needed to make. We were playing so well we didn’t feel as though we needed to make any. But with two powerful boys up front with 15 minutes to go, that proved to be the right way to go.
Possibly going to sleep on it, 36 hours before the game is enough time for us to decide whether players are a bit leggy or if we go with the similar team [to Saturday]. The bench is a good bench and we’ll need all the players between now and the end of the season. That’s massive for me, suspensions are looming, touch wood we don’t get any injuries, we’ve got a good drive in the group to all want to play. There are no injuries to worry about.

When will Declan John return?
"Declan is fine. He's been fine this week in training, but Bailey had started the week with a bit of a tight groin and I just felt I needed another centre back on the bench.
“It's unlucky for Declan that he didn't make the 18 but he kind of understood. He's fitted into the group really well and he's going to push Denver really hard for that place.”
Positive news for Joel Lynch
On Lynch, Parkinson said: “With Joel, there is no broken rib, protocol with the concussion is progressing.
“He should be close to selection early next week.”
Parkinson on the back three and another clean sheet
Parkinson said: “I was very pleased for the lads at the back, the back three were excellent.
“In that period in the first half, when we were not at our best, concentration levels have to be right.
“You have to come through that period unscathed so when you play better it is not 1-0 down but still 0-0 and that is what you saw.”
Oxford United want Will Grigg
Oxford United will look to reignite their interest in out-of-favour Sunderland striker Will Grigg this summer.
Grigg was again missing from the Sunderland matchday squad for the 1-0 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday at the Stadium of Light.
Oxford boss Karl Robinson declared his interest in Grigg in January but the Black Cats were unwilling to let him go to a potential promotion rival.
