Sunderland are sweating over the severity of Bailey Wright’s ankle injury after the in-form defender hobbled off during the 1-0 win over Oxford.
The Black Cats moved to within three points of leaders Rotherham with a third straight win but Wright’s injury was a blow.
Parkinson admitted it did not look too good with the club now waiting to see how long it could keep him out for.

Phil Parkinson on the spirit in the Sunderland camp
Parkinson said: “It’s the whole team, defending starts from the front, there were some heroic headers out the box from Charlie Wyke, Tom Flanagan - everybody played their part.
“We showed a strong character, our mentality was strong, concentration levels were great and we dug deep and had to. Conditions were tough. Oxford are a good team and have a lot of talent.
“It was a real team performance and I am so pleased with the points."
Parkinson had praise for January signing Josh Scowen
“Josh is a very good player, he has come in and the lads in midfield have gone up a level.
“He has done really well and it just showed what he is all about; he is a very clever, intelligent player and did some good things.”
Sunderland sweating on severity of Bailey Wright injury
On Wright, Parkinson didn't sound too optimistic post-match Saturday
Parkinson said: "It doesn't look good, that's all I can say at the moment as it is early, it looks quite a bad injury. Alim came on and did well.
"It's his ankle ligaments."
