The Stadium of Light is set to be given the formal go-ahead to host next season’s matches at a meeting next week.
Sunderland City Council’s Regulatory Committee will vote on Monday on the renewal of the ground’s safety certificate for 2018/19.
This is due to set capacity at 48,339 for non-segregation games and 48,095 for segregated ties.
The club will be charged £12,250 for the formal approval, an annual price which hasn’t changed since 2000/01.
According to the Sports Ground Safety Authority, the safety certificate sets ‘the safe capacity of a designated ground’ as well as ‘detailed terms and conditions with which the certificate holder must comply if that capacity is to be maintained’.
