Gary Rowell: Bardsley leads way for Sunderland’s best

Have your say

WITH no Sunderland game at the weekend, your mind has to occupy itself with other things and I started thinking about who the front-runners are for Player of the Season at the club at the moment.

For me? I’d have to say Phil Bardsley.

I think he has been Sunderland’s most consistent performer, making the switch from right-back to left-back look easy and adding a new attacking style to his play which has already brought him a couple of goals.

Others who deserve a mention? Titus Bramble at £1m must be one of the bargain buys of the season and would have been a contender for Player of the Season. And Asamoah Gyan has lit up the place with his play and his goals.

There’s still more than a quarter of a season to go and things can change quite quickly. But for me, Bardo’s in the lead!
