Everton warm up with thumping win

Everton have warmed up for the big game next weekend with a 4-0 win in a friendly at their training camp in Dubai.

The match, which the club say was played through a sandstorm, was against Chine outfit Shenzhen, managed by none other than Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Ross Barkley and Enner Valencia were on the scoresheet, with Arouna Kone, who of course scored a hat-trick against the Black Cats on an awful afternoon at Goodison, last season, bagging a brace.

Ronald Koeman has said: "We played well and made some good goals,

"The boys showed a great attitude. It’s the end of the week and most of the players are a little bit tired but they showed a professional attitude that you want to see as a coach. I’ve liked that the most from this week.

“It was a good save for the penalty [from Hewelt] and it’s always nice to have a clean sheet. Overall the boys worked hard in difficult conditions.

“Everything has gone well and we’ve had a good week.”
