Sunderland manager David Moyes has again been linked with the Scotland job, should Gordon Strachan leave.

Strachan is coming under increasing pressure after a series of disappointing results, with Scotland beaten 3-0 by England in the latest World Cup qualifier.

Moyes was made joint-second favourite with one bookmaker over the weekend to take charge should Strachan leave, with fresh reports north of the border this morning again linking the Sunderland boss with the role.

Moyes signed a four-year deal when he took charge of Sunderland in the summer and there is no suggestion he is set to leave Wearside.

The 53-year-old Scot has spoken regularly and in-depth about the long-term project of turning Sunderland's fortunes around.

Sunderland host Hull City at the Stadium of Light on Saturday when the Premier League returns after the international break.

Meanwhile, Sunderland do have an option to buy loanee Javier Manquillo but there is no clause triggering payment after a certain amount of games.

The 22-year-old is on a season-long loan from Spanish side Atletico Madrid and has made seven appearances for Sunderland so far this campaign.

The Echo understands Sunderland do have an option to make Manquillo's loan deal permanent but there is nothing in the arrangement saying the Black Cats have to sign him after a certain amount of appearances.

Reports surfaced overnight that Sunderland would be facing a bill of £9.5m if the Spaniard makes 25 appearances for the club this season.

That is not the case but the season-long loan does include an option for Sunderland to make the move a permanent four-year deal after the completion of the loan.
And finally, Sunderland Under-23s take on S.L. Benfica this week in the Premier League International Cup.

The Black Cats welcome the Portuguese side to the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground, in Hetton, on Friday night, in their first group game of the tournament (kick-off 7pm).

Entry is priced at £3 for adults and £1 for under 16s and over 65s.

Turnstiles will open from 6pm. Supporters are reminded that due to competition rules there is no free entry for season card holders for this fixture.
