Sunderland have been linked with a move for Seattle Sounders striker Obafemi Martins.
The former Newcastle United striker, who have also been linked with a move for the forward, is currently playing in the US but could be set for a return to the Premier League on loan during their off season.
Martins has scored 40 goals in three seasons over in the States, providing 23 assists.
The Nigerian international worked under Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce when he was manager of Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Danny Graham took his tally to three goals in two Under-21 outings after a brace in last night’s defeat to Liverpool, which led to the striker winning praise from boss Andy Welsh.
Graham was a late substitute in Sunderland’s victory at Crystal Palace on Monday night and despite arriving back on Wearside in the early hours, the striker netted a brace yesterday, as they suffered a 4-3 extra-time defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League Cup.
