Sunderland fans woke up to the news they were hoping for this morning - hot prospect Duncan Watmore wants to STAY at the club.

Watmore has enjoyed a spectacular rise over recent weeks, with the 21-year-old producing a man-of-the-match display for England Under-21s on Monday, despite being limited to a 15-minute run-out from the bench.

Sunderland want him to stay and the forward has confirmed he is keen to extend his stay at the Stadium of Light too.

He said: "Do I want to stay at Sunderland? Yes I do. It’s a great club."
We also revealed today that boss Sam Allardyce has set up a 'war room' at Sunderland in a bid to counteract the relegation threat.

Together with new performance director Mark Taylor, Allardyce has also set-up a staff-only room, where coaches can spend hours viewing and discussing detailed statistical and video analysis on each player.

Sunderland are tracking Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton, but a January move looks a long-shot for the Israeli international.

Highly-rated Bitton penned a new five-year contract with the Scottish Premiership champions at the start of the month, but that has not stopped a number of Premier League clubs sending scouting missions north of the border

Meanwhile, Sunderland midfielders Ola Toivonen and Seb Larsson couldn't contain their excitement after Sweden qualified for next summer's Euro 2016 tournament in France.

Sweden beat Denmark 4-3 on aggregate to book their place at the finals.

And Toivonen tweeted this picture of the team celebrating adding: "What a feeling!!!! We are Sweden! Baboooom!!"
