David Moyes has faced the media this afternoon, prior to Sunderland's EFL Cup trip to Southampton.

And after the injury boost of last week, Moyes has again got two players threatening to add to his list of problems.

The manager revealed that both Jack Rodwell and Patrick Van Aanholt missed today's Black Cats' session ahead of Wednesday's League Cup last 16 clash.

But both are still expected to travel, according to the manager.

Meanwhile, Rodwell's Sunderland stats don't make for good reading.

In the 32 games the former Everton and Manchester City midfielder has started for the club, since his £10million switch from the Etihad, he is yet to experience a win.

So if he were to be missing on Wednesday evening, it might not be be the worst for Moyes & Co.

Dutchman Van Aanholt would be a miss, though, according to writer Roy Kelly, who believes the Black Cats' second top scorer has stepped up to the plate since the manager issued the squad with an ultimatum to improve.
