Here's your round-up of the teatime headlines surrounding Sunderland.
Brotherton speaks for the first time...
The Black Cats sprung a bit of a surprise when they announced the capture of New Zealand youngster Simon Brotherton 24 hours on from Deadline Day.
He links up with the U23's and has been speaking for the first time on Wearside about his game.
He said: "“I’m happy to be here and I’ve enjoyed my first few days,
“The players are a good bunch of lads and I know Michael Woud from my time in New Zealand so it’s nice to have a familiar face around.
“I’m an aggressive player, a good communicator and a good leader. I like to think I can read the game pretty well and I’m good in the air.
“I need to keep working on my range of passing, decision making and speed of play,” he continued.
“I used to play centre midfield until I was about 16 or 17 then I moved backwards into the defence.
“It’s a high level here and I need to adapt to that. Every player wants to play games and I’ll be doing all I can to earn an opportunity like that.”
Sunderland's youngsters are of course in action against Athletic Bilbao at the SoL tomorrow night.
Fans will get the chance to see the Sunderland squad put through their paces in an open training session at the SoL.
The event is free and takes place on Monday February 20th, kicking off at 1pm.
The club said: "There will be music and entertainment in and around the stadium prior to the session, including face-painting and football-themed activities for young supporters. Stadium concourse facilities will also be open, serving hot and cold drinks and a range of food items.
"Entry is free, however supporters aged 12 or under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. Parking is available at the stadium on a first-come, first-served basis."
January is over but the rumour mill continues to grind on at pace.
Sunderland were today linked with Nice midfielder Wylan Cyprien, a 22-year-old who has caught the eye in Ligue 1 this season.
With plenty of interest across Europe, Sunderland would have to stay up before they could have any designs on a move like that...
