The burning question ahead of the weekend trip to Bournemouth is will DeAndre Yedlin be given his debut at Dean Court?

The USA full-back says he is fully fit and ready to go, but Billy Jones and Patrick Van Aanholt - who both showed big improvements against Spurs - stand in his way.

Yedlin said: “Hopefully I’ll get my chance and can show what I can do.”

Will he be given the nod?

Bad news over in Italy though as Sunderland loanee Emanuele Giaccherini is already facing a lay-off at new club Bologna after suffering a thigh injury on his debut.

He joined the Italians on a season-long loan just before transfer deadline day.

There are a few connections between Bournemouth and the Black Cats, with Jermain Defoe and John O’Shea both enjoying loan spells on the south coast earlier in their careers.

Ex-Manchester United star O’Shea lifts the lid on his time at Bournemouth here:

Meanwhile, Sunderland officials have warned fans travelling down to Dean Court this weekend to watch out for some traffic issues.

A club statement said: “From 6th September 2015 to 31st May 2016 the northern part of the A338 – the main route into Bournemouth from the north – between Ashley Heath Roundabout on the A31 and the Black Water Junction on the A338 for Christchurch and Bournemouth Airport will be reduced to a 40mph contraflow due to rebuilding work.

“Furthermore, there is no diversion route as there are no other suitable roads to divert traffic onto, and the alternative local roads have weight restrictions on them and are not suitable for coaches.”
