Defender Billy Jones won praise from manager David Moyes this week but that hasn't stopped the transfer speculation ahead of the January sales.

Today, Sunderland have been linked with a fresh move for Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson when the transfer window opens next month.

Right-back has been a problem area for Sunderland in recent seasons but the recent form of Jones has won praise from Moyes.

Despite Jones' improved form, the Black Cats have been linked with a January move for Jenkinson in today's national press.

The 24-year-old has only made five appearances for the Gunners so far this season, with just one appearance in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Fit-again Adnan Januzaj has promised he’ll be back on top of his game soon after returning to action.

The on-loan Manchester United winger started and scored for Sunderland Under-23s in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week.

And finally, Jordan Pickford has a message for new England manager Gareth Southgate.

The homegrown Sunderland keeper has been in superb form since taking over from Vito Mannone as the club's No 1 earlier this season.

His form earned him a call-up to the recent England squad for the games against Scotland and Spain at Wembley.

And his time away with England has given him the taste for more.

"I had a good week away with the England lads, it was a really good learning experience and I got a good feel for it," Pickford told the Echo.
