New Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce continues to make the headlines ahead of his first press conference.

Allardyce is due to speak to the North East press pack this afternoon and we’ll have all the latest on our website from 3pm.

The new Black Cats boss is a busy man at the moment, with his new autobiography due out this month.

The latest installment of the book, currently being serialised by The Sun, has revealed the frosty relationship between Allardyce and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Allardyce wrote: “I enjoyed beating Arsenal more than anyone when I was in charge at Bolton.

“We’d really got to them and Arsène Wenger hated us.

“There was one time he wouldn’t shake hands with me at Highbury because we got a draw. I saw him ripping his tie off and throwing it on the floor in anger. He takes it all very personally and has an air of arrogance. He’s not one for inviting you into his office for a drink after the game.”

Meanwhile, West Brom defender Jonny Evans looks set to miss out at the Hawthorns on Saturday, Allardyce’s first game in charge.

Evans - who joined the Baggies in an £8million deal during the summer - missed both of Northern Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualifiers with a hamstring injury and is facing a battle to be fit.
