Sunderland head to newly-promoted Bournemouth for a crucial Premier League clash tomorrow, with Dick Advocaat standing by the men who produced such an encouraging display in last week’s cruel home defeat to Tottenham.

Advocaat will stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation which gave Spurs problems, although he admits that “I can’t say that last weekend’s starting XI is necessarily my best XI”.

Advocaat, meanwhile, is determined to secure a precious first victory at Bournemouth.

“Bournemouth’s fairytale can go on, but not tomorrow,” said Advocaat. “It’s our fairytale that must start tomorrow.”
Sunderland have Adam Johnson back in the squad, while fellow winger Jeremain Lens is being urged to follow Fabio Borini’s lead in his willingness to offer a defensive helping hand by Advocaat.
