SUNDERLAND frontman Steven Fletcher has been recalled to the Scotland squad after making his peace with boss Craig Levein.

Fletcher has not featured for his country since August 2010 after a fall-out with Levein.

But the pressure has been on Levein to broker a truce with Fletcher after the 25-year-old notched five times in his opening four Premier League outings for Sunderland.

With Scotland labouring to draws in each of their opening two World Cup qualifiers too, the microscope has been on the £12million frontman’s exclusion from international football.

But after a discussion with Levein yesterday, Fletcher has been named in the squad for the crunch qualifiers against Wales on October 12 and Belgium on October 16.

Levein said: “Firstly, he is the most inform striker in the Premier League in England right now.

“His goals ratio for Sunderland has been quite incredible and it is great to have him back.

“It has been a long time since he was in the last squad.

“I had a long chat with him last night and we resolved any issues that had arisen and it is fantastic to have him back.

There is no place in the party for Sunderland team-mate Phil Bardsley though, who continues his recovery from the ankle injury sustained in pre-season.
