Fabio Borini was the hero for Sunderland scoring a stunning late goal to snatch a last-minute equaliser.

Sunderland had led through Dame N'Doye's first goal for the club but a Connor Wickham double in the second half saw Palace take a 2-1 lead.

Sub Borini was the late hero, making it 2-2.

Here are Richard Mennear's player ratings:

Sunderland (4-1-4-1)

Vito Mannone: Made a good point-blank save to deny Scott Dann half an hour in. Could do little about Wickham's first goal.....6

DeAndre Yedlin: Got forward a lot, no surprise given how open the game was. Needs to improve his crossing. Assist.....6

John O'Shea (C): An early departure through injury, big blow to Sunderland. O'Shea had done well too, making some key interceptions.....6

Lamine Kone: Had the better of Wickham in the opening stages of the game but the striker got his revenge second half. Defence was wayward after the break....6

Patrick van Aanholt: Saw plenty of the ball down the left-hand side. Decision making poor at times. His pace caused Palace problems though.....6

Jan Kirchhoff: So comfortable on the ball, always looking to be involved. Calm in possession too but faded second half and was subbed....6

Yann M'Vila: Switched the play well in the first half but Sunderland lost all composure after Palace scored....7

Jack Rodwell: Full of running on his return to the side. Started really well, making a couple of bursting runs. One of the brighter players. MOM...7

Dame N'Doye: Scored his first goal for Sunderland, took a massive deflection off Dann. Lost Wickham for second goal. Pushed about too easily.....7

Wahbi Khazri: Sunderland look to him whenever they get the ball. Work rate impressive but offered little after the break as Palace dominated.....6

Jermain Defoe: Isolated again in the first half, Sunderland need to get more support to him. Tested Hennessey with a few tame efforts.....6

Younes Kaboul (for O'Shea, 28): Slotted in well alongside Kone first half. Defence fell apart after the break for their two goals......6

Lee Cattermole (for Kirchhoff, 64): Doesn't have the passing range of Kirchhoff. Sunderland lost all their confidence after Palace drew level. Nasty cut to head....5

Fabio Borini (for Cattermole, 80): Cattermole had a nasty gash to his head and was subbed. His replacement Borini produced a stunning equaliser....7
