Stewart Donald returns to the public eye as Sunderland AFC takeover talks continue
Stewart Donald has returned to the public eye at the Stadium of Light – and was present as Sunderland took on Ipswich Town.
The Sunderland owner hasn’t attended a home game since before Christmas, having since publicly announced his intention to sell the club.
And while takeover talks are continuing behind the scenes, Donald took his place in the Directors’ Box for the crucial clash with the Tractor Boys.
Fellow shareholder Charlie Methven said the club were hopeful a takeover could be completed before the summer.
“We're now just going through the process of talking to people about what their plans for the club would be, because obviously it's very important that the best possible people come to the club,” he told BBC Newcastle.
“We really hope to conclude that process as soon as possible because for the club's sake, the new ownership needs to be in place to plan for the summer.”
