SCOUT Steve Houston has followed Sunderland’s new technical director Lee Congerton to the Stadium of Light.
Welshman Congerton was confirmed as the successor to the sacked director of football Roberto De Fanti last week after leaving his role at Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.
Congerton has brought Houston, who worked alongside him at both Chelsea and Hamburg, to the Stadium of Light and he will be the club’s new head of scouting and player recruitment.
Houston comes from a consultancy, rather than footballing background, yet has been at the forefront of the data analysis systems which are forming an increasing part of modern scouting.
Sunderland have also confirmed that Boston College graduate Ryan Sachs is now the club’s head of football operations and club secretary, albeit he has been in the role for several weeks already.
