Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce made five changes for the match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park tonight.

Allardyce has labelled the Premier League match as 'must not lose' and has named a defensive looking formation, reverting to the five at the back last seen at Everton - which ended in a 6-2 hammering.

Jermain Defoe partnered Steven Fletcher in attack at Selhurst Park, with John O'Shea, Sebastian Coates and Younes Kaboul named in the back three.

Lee Cattermole was back from injury in the middle alongside the recalled Seb Larsson, while there was a recall too for Patrick van Aanholt at left-wing back.

In total, Allardyce made five changes with Defoe, Patrick van Aanholt, Cattermole, Larsson and O'Shea replacing DeAndre Yedlin, Jordi Gomez, Ola Toivonen, Adam Johnson and Duncan Watmore from the team that lost 1-0 to Southampton before the international break.

Ex-Sunderland striker Connor Wickham started for Palace, the forward leaving the Stadium of Light in a £9million deal in the summer.
