WITH THE transfer window now open, the rest of this month won’t be short on rumour when it comes to possible targets.
Sunderland’s business over the last few years hasn’t exactly been a roaring success, with a huge amount of money wasted on players who haven’t lived up to their transfer fees.
It doesn’t look as if there will be a massive turnover in or out, and that’s no bad thing in my opinion, as long as we can get two or three quality additions to improve on what we already have.
Take away the Southampton debacle and Sunderland’s defensive record isn’t too bad, so it’s clear to any fan that it’s the other end of the pitch which needs attention.
I’m not sure that Gus Poyet and Lee Congerton are always singing from the same hymn sheet, but whoever is calling the shots in that particular dynamic needs to get this window right if Sunderland are to make any significant progress.
